Abstract
Surgical site infections (SSIs) occur in about 6.8% of cesarean sections in Rwanda, particularly affecting rural areas lacking follow-up care. In response, MotherMend is a mobile app developed with React Native and Strapi, utilizing a MobileNetV2-based convolutional neural network to assist mothers and community health workers in postoperative wound monitoring. The app, capitalizing on Rwanda's 86% mobile penetration, enables real-time wound classification while ensuring privacy and secure data storage, supporting the country's digital health goals and reducing hospital visits for early interventions.
